One Direction released their new video, Drag Me Down, on August 22, and while most of the world thought it was brainless, all fans cared about was that it was Zayn-less. From this pain, however, came the Directioners’ decision to break the YouTube record for the most-viewed video in 24 hours (and unintentionally, also prove that 1D had some of the most jobless fans around).

Some marvelled at the video's large-scale budget, as it was filmed at the NASA headquarters, and how the boys were sent into outer space. Others were preoccupied with a very different kind of space – a 'space' for Zayn Malik, who left the band in March and has been picking fights on Twitter with anyone and everyone ever since, in each shot of the video (the Watergate conspiracy theorists have nothing on this).

Nobody can drag me down, the English-Irish heartthrobs croon in the video, but still manage to single-handedly drag down the IQ of the teenage population the world over, with pursuits like #dragmedownmusicvideoisout vevo record. And, whether you love or hate Harry Styles and his equally famous curls, father-to-be Louis Tomlinson, nondescript Liam Payne and Niall Horan, who's better known to the rest of the world as 'the-only-guy-in-the-band-who's-blond', we can agree on the fact that the one direction we’re all heading in is becoming a little more frenzied, and a little less sane.
